My Time In The SUN!

Well, this season has been so HOT in Northern Alabama and Southern Tennessee.  But, we fared every day of it, begrudgingly.  I had some good, but some awful shows this summer....whew.  I know now where to go next year for sure!  I'm sending everyone who helped me this summer, hugs and kisses!

For the grace and mercies I receive every day... thanks be to God, my savior, comforter, and friend!

John Reed was and has always been a lifesaver, with out him I would never had made it!  He set me up each time and tore down each time too!  Bless his little heart!  Hope, Bre, John & Melinda, Melanie & Pat, and everyone else I thank you so much for the support too!

Now, off to the Fall 2010 shows....stay tuned!

I love you all!!

Well, this was a great show this month.  We enjoyed all the people and I even had a "sit" down  and talkd with
Bradley Byrne, the Republican runner for governor for the state of Alabama.

We had loads of people come by and see us and to help us as we were packed with customers the entire time we were there!  Thanku cuzin' Hope and also thanks goes to Melanie and Pat Fuller, Big John and Melinda Glover for helping us load up!

Here are some pics of the event.

This July the 4th weekend was great, we enjoyed with friends and family,  thank you Lord for the time we had to spend together!

Here In The Stormy South...we still set up!

Hey my friends, how are you!  Well...as you all know by now, I have lots and lots of shows happening this summer and early fall.  You set up in the rain, sleet, hail, and snow.  It was like that on Saturday and Sunday of this Memorial Day weekend, down in Decatur, Alabama at the Jubilee Hot Air Balloon Festival. We had rain, hail, cold, and muggy hot weather and all in one weekend!  That's how it is here in the Tennessee Valley!  Saturday morning looked and started out okay, then we heard it in the distance coming.  Bre' and me looked at each other and went "uh oh."

Then it got cold and rainy, then hot and muggy, and then breezy and warm.  Whew!  I didn't know whether to "wind my butt, or scratch my watch!" Hee Hee!
All in all, it was a great weekend.  The balloons did not get to go up again this year, but they had the balloon glow that Saturday night.  The crowds were low this year, they say but I didn't know what to compare to as we had never done this show before.  Anyway, I wish to thank everyone who helped me and John this weekend, and that is Bre' and Wilson.  I love you guys very much.  And of course...my hubby John, thank you sweetie!

Arts Alive Festival - May 15 and 16, 2010

Well, this festival was great and filled with all kinds of fun for the whole family!  We had probably 200 arts and craft vendors and what great weather on Saturday we had!  Beautiful and sunny all day long here in Florence, Al was the highlight of the weekend!  The funnel cakes were cooking all day long,  as the kids played in the big fountain in Wilson Park downtown.  We really enjoyed the bluegrass singing and face painting and everything!

My helper Bre, was a lifesaver! She was with me all day Saturday and we had a wonderful time here!

The park was beautiful!!!!

Chicken and Egg Festival

Wow, this festival was really something.  There was a bit of anything and everthing here at the fairgrounds in Cullman, Alabama this past weekend.  We got set up Saturday morning and not long after they opened the gates(and I do mean they literally opened the gates) we were bombarded with all the delightfull people of the area.  We were set apart out in the "pasture" across from the donkeys, mules, and chickens.  This wonderful little town with it's quaint elders and sweet young people, welcomed all of us vendors.

Day at the Hospital....agin

Hey my galore' jewelry loves!
Well, just got home or just woke up from sleeping at the hospital for a couple of days with mommy and daddy.  Everything is ok and God has done it again!  Yes that's God again!
Mom went in for chest pains after just having a heart attack 10 days ago, but the doc says after all is said and done all is well!

See, the chairs down on the first floor was well worth it!  They really were pretty comfy after all the worry that went on.  I don't know why I still worry over my little fam after all that God has done!  One day I will learn, huh!

Baby Logan...our little miracle child

Well, this began on or around the end of January. First of all, I was stuck at home in Alabama with pneumonia.

Naomi, our daughter who lives in Dallas, was due on or around February 2nd, her midwife said. As the date got closer, the midwife changed the due date to the middle of January. Anyway, Na went into early labor around the first of Feb and got sent home. She went into labor again, sent home. Then weeks later, her water breaks, and she got sent home for 2 days and told not to come back untill the labor pains are 5 mins apart. OK, she then goes in to the "birthing center" and stays for more than a day. Finally, Na decided to go to the hospital and they took her straight for an emergency C section.

Logan was born 20 minutes later...blue and gray, not breathing, and with the cord wrapped around his little neck three times. He was immediatly given CPR and intubated. They grabbed him up and rushed him to Cook's Children's Hospital in Ft Worth, Tx. He was put on a respirator, tubes, and everything. That night, after prayer chains were going all over the country, he started breathing on his on, his color was back, and the innitial MRI showd no brain damage. Within hours God saved this baby boy!

He continues to do well, as they both came home from their respective hospitals this past weekend.

I give all the glory to God.

No one can know what is going to happen in this world from day to day or even hour to hour. So many thing are thrown at us from the Devil constantly! I've been thrown alot of things lately and don't know why. But I'm learning that there are a lot of things I need to do and change in my life right now!
http://bible.cc/2_chronicles/7-14.htm

Anyway, i thank all you wonderful people for your prayers and for the prayers for me while I'm still sick, and for my mother who had a heart attack thru all of this and my father who fell three times since I've seen them, and is very ill himself. I try to take care of my folks who live in Tenneesse, but havn't seen them in weeks. Pray for our continued recoveries!

To Tweet or Not To Tweet

Well my galore' jewelry lovers,

I am now officially tweeting. As of last week, I starting learning the "art" of the tweet. It seems simple enough, really it does. But, it's time consuming to say the least. As with anything else, you must (or i do, anyway)stay with it till you get it down. I'm still with it, til I get it down.
I went onto the etsy forum sites to find "help" with my problem. I had not sold anything from my 'etsy site ' since I started the dad gum thing. People were saying, "you might as well not be on there if your not going to sell anything; it just takes up time!" Well, they were right. It does take time. Drying your hair takes time too, but you got to do it if you want to look presentable.
So, the forum, "blogs of help" in etsy that I came up with..."What Am I Doin Wrong?"...triggered lots of answers and guidelines. So many people said to go to twitter and social network and market, market, market, anyway, I did. I opened a twitter account and off I went. First, I plugged in the "buzz" words like, "arts and crafts, sewing, cooking", and so on. I "followed" everyone I could get my mouse on and then people started following me. It was amazing. In a few short days, I had nearly 300 followers. Then, I started advertising and saying things like..."Turquoise...my drug of choice," then add a link to a bracelet or earrings or something like that. Well, the views in my etsy shop started doubling, then more views and so on, and so on.
The first week I was on twitter, I sold a pair of earrings! A couple of days later...I've sold a bracelet! No more showcases for me baby, they have been useless up to right now. I'm not giving them up completely...I'm just sayin! There's no sense in me buying a showcase that produces nothing. You advertise for sells, right?
So, in conclusion, tweeting has been extremely successful for me and I'm going to keep doing it! Grant it, it takes a lot of time on the computer, but time management is key. And if it works for me right now, then that's what I'm going to do right now. Later on down the road, I'll probably have to change to something else. Change is inevitable. But for now, twitter is my friend. This computer world is changing everyday, what comes next...we can only imagine.

Make Jump Rings

comming soon...

How To Make Simple Pendant Holder...

comming soon...videos!

How To Make Simple French Hooks

1. First, cut the wire to the length of your pointing finger. Just a simple measurement.

2. Then make a loop to start.

3. Then file the other end

4. Then start the loop on the jig. Jig is facing you with nails up front. the first nail to the left, and loop around to the inside of the second nail on the right, and pull back slightly. I made this jig with just two nails and a center post. (i had bought this seed beed "thingy" to load your beads onto a needle. ) Never used it so...I added nails to it to make earwires and Now I use it! U can make a jig out of 2 x 4s or whatever. They have them online too at etsy. U can find ear wire patterns online too.

5. Then, hammer at the very top loop, just to temper, and your ear wire is made. It's that simple. you can play with the design once u get the basics down.

These are very simple to make.

I use 20 gauge half hard round. You can use this in sterling or copper or whatever u can find this temper in.

OK, go do it! God Bless!

I'm torching in 2010!

Hey jewelry lovers,
Well, this year I'm learning a new skill. That's right, I'm getting torched! NO, not that way...I'm learning myself to your the torch and soldering some new items this year! I've been wanting to go in a new direction, for some fresh items...so God told me to get going. Get out of your slump and start a fresh new skill.

So, look out rainbow, no more laying around on mommy's desk. I'm afraid u might get hurt. Acetylene...here I come! I will still be cold forging items, look for a lot more sterling pieces too. Mixed metals will still be strong in the "metal collection" as well as lots of copper. I told you copper would be big!

Pics to follow...it will be awhile, but look for demo videos too!
